love in the time of revolution – 23

this heart needs a bypass
blockages in so many arteries
that lead me home to you

we can only make sure
to listen through the stethoscope
and hope, our hearts still beat

it is a long operation
to keep the heart alive

we are all healers
with our own medicine
and we promise the Hippocratic Oath
to never let go of love and life

love in the time of revolution – 22

they say grief is love
with no place to go

there is plenty of grief

there is lack of landing
the ship cannot dock
the pit is bottomless

and the distance between us widens

within this abyss
there is plenty of love

We are swimming in it…
we may drown in it…

Turning the lights off

Sometimes the darkness inside
Is more black than the darkness outside

So I turn off my light
to see with my own eyes
what shapes lie in the darkness within.

Sometimes I need to bathe in blackness
Be intimate with the ugly to hear
why we create the beautiful in the ugly’s likeness.

Sometimes I need to see
The beauty in the darkness.

freak show playground

roller coaster ride in one day
cycle like ferris wheel
like the one manned by men

– the psychosis of a revolution.

amusement parks are for fun
laughter and shrills

haunted by the edge
between life and death

the crowd has been trapped
in the boogie man maze for far too long

the only way out is the way through, they say.

love in the time of revolution – 18

we hold on to a boat
with no oar
how will we row ashore?

we have only us
only love to move
the vessel of us

i don’t even know if
we are heading for the same shore

love in the time of revolution – 17

in the noise of trouble
here you are

a soothing voice
because you bring you

and
you battle your own demons

do you know
you are already a hero?

you have led my heart to bloom
we are here in our own spring revolution

love in the time of revolution – 16

i cannot breathe
my lungs collapse
my heart presses tight

limbs are feeble
like limp noodles

in K dramas
the lovers feel faint
with chest pains
when falling in love

my breath’s been taken away
by you
my lungs have swooned
over you
my heart has thrust itself
into you

my limbs are light
to take flight
for you

love has befallen
i embrace you
i am yours for the taking

love in the time of revolution – 15

so this is my love letter to you
it is coming soon

arriving on
kites amongst red balloons
puppets and paper mache egg dolls
pop songs and fight tunes
wisdom from life whispers

most importantly
Coming from my heart
Coming out at the time
between dusk and dawn

may it not be lost
to darkness of witching hours
may you hear the heart that aches for you

love in the time of revolution – 14

love songs are played
we hear them
like love letters

spelling out hearts
in codes we decipher
through pop anthems

do you know i have
dedicated them to you?

do you know
the songs are my confessions
of the joy, awe and gratitude

of the power you hold
in this revolution of the heart?

hear them?
love songs are played.

love in the time of revolution – 11

we don’t talk about the heartbreaks
the broken hearts, the brokenhearted ones

we silence the cracks in the hearts
the sounds of hearts shattering

our hearts break
because we love so deeply

we break
because we love so deeply

we break armors
because we love so deeply

we break chains
because we love so deeply

it is the hearts broken
whose blood surge
like Yam Suph that Moses parts
that drowns the merciless lords

hearts break apart to let us walk through
and hearts crash to expunge the vices

we don’t talk about the heartbreaks
i want to talk about the heartbreaks
